Q. What is the difference between vermi-compost and “Agrowinn’s pure Organic Worm-Castings”?
A. Vermi-Compost is produced with a composting process to obtain worm castings.
These products and that is most of the commercial large companies products
are less than pure castings. Manufacturers who use the composting process are
called Vermi-Composters and feed the worms predominantely
Greenwaste, Horse and/or Cow manure in outdoor windrows and Vermi-
Compost is the result.
The amount of castings will therefore vary in their bags.
(Even well-composted Greenwastes may have residues of pesticides, fungicides and
herbicides and other toxins particularly heavy metals.
If the compost is not evenly heated, there will be weed seeds as well
germinating after applications of vermi-compost).
Conclusion:
The Quality of Worm Castings can only be determinded with a lab test.
Agrowinn Organic Worm-Castings is OMRI listed and registered as a fertilizer and
has 99 % Castings, which would set the standard for “Pure Worm-Castings”.
If it does not look like coffee grounds and if you press it between your fingers
and you don’t get that manure feel and look …. then I would not buy it.
